Michelle Eccles, LPC
Michelle was born and raised in Grand Junction. She completed her Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. During her time at CU, she realized her love for horses and passion for counseling could be combined. She completed her Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a focus on Equine-Assisted Mental Health from Prescott College in Prescott, AZ. Shortly after graduation, Michelle and her husband moved to Oahu, HI., where her husband served in the United States Military. Michelle continued her mental health career by becoming an LPC and working with local children and their families through intensive in-home mental health services. After 5 years, the U.S. Army moved Michelle, her husband and new baby to El Paso, TX. Michelle then decided to put her career on hold and was a stay-at-home mom. Michelle and her family were able to move back home to Grand Junction in 2022. She is excited to be working with GVEALC and providing equine-assisted psychotherapy to the grand valley. In her free time, Michelle enjoys camping, fishing and playing tennis. |

Her therapeutic approach particularly puts a focus on how patients can communicate more effectively, reduce conflict, and ultimately learn emotional and behavioral skills that translate to increased awareness and joy. A large aspect of treatment is first insight with accountability to yourself and then growth forward. She facilitates the therapeutic process but believes each patient has the power and ability to direct their own growth and learning. She believes that patients fully experiencing hobbies, interests, and the outdoors helps to build a foundation that is resilient to the changes and unexpected challenges in life. |
